High-School-2E: Contemporary Issues in Psychology

Psychology is constantly evolving, addressing new challenges and opportunities in our rapidly changing world. This six-week unit explores contemporary issues in psychology, focusing on how the discipline responds to emerging trends such as the impact of technology, mental health awareness, cultural diversity, and ethical dilemmas. Students will examine how psychology continues to shape and is shaped by society in the 21st century.

Through case studies, discussions, and multimedia resources, students will critically engage with topics like the psychology of social media, advancements in neuroscience, and the global movement toward mental health destigmatisation. This unit encourages students to think about how psychological knowledge can address real-world problems and improve lives. By the end of the course, students will have a deeper appreciation for the relevance of psychology in tackling today’s most pressing issues.
